This is Audrey's play dough creation. I was pretty impressed, so I took a picture.
February is always kind of rough--the kids have to stay inside because of bad weather, and we usually have to battle sickness at some point. This February we didn't get sick, but the kids got into so much mischief. They really outdid themselves with this mess in particular. It took Dave and myself at least an hour to get everything sorted and put back where it was. And all that paper!
On the other hand, some days went really well, and the kids found really great ways to entertain themselves and get along.
Something is growing on my little lemon tree! Unfortunately, it fell off a few days later. I'm not even sure it's meant to produce actual fruit...
Audrey went to a birthday party at Lily Sainsbury's house! These girls have so much fun together. I so hope they remain friends and don't let silly drama split them up in junior high.
You will probably see a lot of pictures of Jonny and Darcy for the next few months since the girls are in school most of the time. I don't know if I'm exactly "clinging" to their toddler-hood, but I am making sure I savor it.
Look at how big he looks in this picture!
For a preschool field trip, the kids went to Idaho Pizza Company to learn about how they make pizza. The highlight is that they get to make their own.
Audrey totally nailed making her valentine box for school this year!
Once her valentine box was full of candy, Darcy made it her personal mission to get her hands on it! I caught her building her way up to it on the mantle.
This girls is way into bows, as you can see. She kept asking me to take her picture, and I was happy to oblige.
I just love her drawings at this age. She takes her time and gets really detailed. She can't ever tell me what it is she's drawn most of the time. She likes to keep things very abstract . . .
When she's not drawing pictures and trying to get more candy . . . :) She's such a goofy little girl!
Jane, Claire, and I drove to my parents' house to pick up our half of a steer they butchered from the butcher's shop in Aberdeen. It was a really quick trip, but it was fun to go with just these two girls. They were SO cute in the car. And here is Claire posing with her owl from school with her cousins so she could share it with her class the next week.
One thing I love about being a mom is all the cute and funny things my kids say. Here are some good ones:
Darcy bonked her head getting a diaper and said, "Ow! I just hurt my brown hairs on that brown table!"
I love how Jonny uses phrases like, "Our ears are really hearish", "I'm feeling really peeish," and "my blankets are really tuckish."
The kids asked Darcy what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said, "Uuuuh...I just want to stay with Jonny."
Darcy asked Jonny about flowers: "What's a flower?" Jonny said, "Well, flowers got lots of great things in them...honey, nectar, some petals aaand...just some stuff. All that stuff makes them smell good for humans."
Claire was watching Mary Poppins, and when the chimney sweeps were dancing on the roof she asked, "Are they doing parkour?"
We were talking to Audrey, Dave and I, and college came up. We were talking about how you apply and then they send you a letter telling whether you're accepted or not. And Audrey was all like, "Geez. That's so judge-y."
The kids ran to the bedroom thinking I was in there. I hear Darcy say, "Hey! Where's Mom!?" Jonny then said, "Darcy . . . . she's dead!" so dramatically. Then I called, "Jonny! Don't say that to her! I'm right here!" He said, "Oh. She's just in the office. Come on, Darc." Stinker!
Darcy calls waterfalls "water foddles." She saw a bee or wasp in the pool and she yelled, "It's a hornigan!!" :) I think she meant hornet.
When she saw the ocean, it was also "a BIG water foddle" or a "BIG pool."
I could never save them all, even though I wish I could. These are just the few I wrote down. Love it!
