Audrey isn't fond of mosquitoes. I mean, no one is, but she seems to truly hate them more than anyone I know.
She asked us one day when we were driving in the van:
"Dad, why did God make bad bugs? Does he want to do somethin' to us or somethin'?
Like, mosquitoes . . . why did he make mosquitoes? Does he want to hurt us or scare us?"
We assured her that He didn't make "bad bugs" to hurt or scare us . . . but we weren't really sure why he made mosquitoes. We mentioned something about how some animals eat mosquitoes, but Audrey asked what kinds of animals eat mosquitoes. Frogs? She informed us that frogs eat flies and not mosquitoes. We tried again: spiders. She wasn't really happy about having spiders in the world either, so that didn't help.
Birds! Birds eat mosquitoes. Supposedly. I told this fact to Audrey today after school, and she looked at me like I was a moron (which she does a lot) and told me that birds eat worms, seeds, and bugs that crawl in the grass. I decided not to mention bats, but since I"m not having much success convincing her that there exists an animal that eats mosquitoes, and I could actually show her bats eating moths and mosquitoes around the lights at her school at night (which is basically our backyard), she might believe me.
I don't think it would make her tolerate mosquitoes any better, though.

Love
Audrey is so funny. She clearly has a crush on every single boy in her class. She was very careful choosing which valentine's to give them, and on some of them she wrote "I love you" because, "none of them say I love you or anything?!?!?!" :) For the boys she liked best she chose to give them valentines with Ariel on them because they looked like her and said, "Be mine." And for all the girls she chose a fairy or princess valentine that looked the most like them. Thank you, Disney for covering all the hair colors and skin types that make up her diverse little class. Then we stuck suckers on them all and called it good. She's very excited.
Jane chose valentines for a few of her little friends, and two for Daddy, "because he should have two." :)
