Other Things
While I wait for the Mesa Falls pictures to arrive in my inbox, I'll fill you in on some other stuff that's happened lately.
1. After driving across the country with the kids (for the millionth time it seems), I've come to realize that the DVD player we had put in before we left was the #1 best decision we have ever made in our lives. David will heartily agree . . . even though I gave him so much crap about it. Forget family fun. Day two, hour 15 of driving is no time to try to teach them how to sing Sarasponda. Put in Dora the Explorer before your head explodes and before they morph into Cerberus.
2. Jane threw up a couple of hours after we got home. I've never been so thankful! If she had done that in the car, my head really would have exploded.
3. As terrible as some of the scenes in our car were, it was not as bad as flying. It's true.
4. I truly hate public bathrooms and wal-mart shopping carts . . .
5. About 5 days after we got home, I came down with strep throat. Which is the worst thing ever. A couple of shots in the rear, some powerful medication, the worst antibiotic in history, and about 54 hours later, I was cured. Not after I was tormented with the possibility that they would have to slice my tonsils open with a scalpel.
6. I am magically an early riser now. It's always been a life-long dream of mine. But any attempt to make the change has been completely impossible. Really discouraging, actually. So, here I am, having woken up at 7:00 easily, with no major side effects for over two weeks! Don't laugh. This is a big deal for me. It was 6:30 for a while, and I'm going to go back to that. It isn't too much different than waking up at 7:00. Anyway, it's great!
7. I absolutely adore going to the library. Every two weeks I spend and hour or two filling up a canvas bag of books that end up really delighting me. I've never been able to go with this much regularity, so this is really something special.
8. I am in possession of a bread maker. And I've even made bread with it!
9. Claire still calls me Daddy.
10. I didn't forget to have some huckleberry ice cream while I was in Idaho. Man, I love that stuff.

Life as usual
Lizard is truly the apple of Audrey's eye again. He's wearing his "fairy outfit." Just like Audrey. :) His wings are secured with a ponytail holder . . .
Jane always manages to look a little bit like Hitler every time she eats chocolate.
And just so you know, this is the cool way to wear flip flops.
First Day of Kindergarten
My camera has been sick lately, so for a while you'll be seeing photos from our little point-and-shoot camera. Not as good, but adequate.
She was a little bit sleepy, but generally in a pretty good mood. She was excited to go to kindergarten.
We live less than a two minute walk away . . . like from Audrey's bed to her desk in her classroom . . . it takes two minutes to get there. It's awesome! David walks her to school every morning. She usually rides her bike over, then David carries it home. :)
Her teacher is Mrs. Wood, and she's awesome! We all adore her. Audrey included.
Her first week went splendidly. Her teacher knows how to handle her perfectly. The school staff has been wonderful (we had her ARD meeting about the evaluation she had in the Spring). Everyone is mightily impressed with her artwork, of course. She's really doing great. I feel like I can finally stop stressing about her being there, whether or not she's behaving, and just enjoy how much simpler my days are!
