Kiddisms

Jonny: Claire, you need to pologize to me.
Claire: I'm sorry.
Jonny: . . . now give me a hug.
Claire:  There.
Jonny: Ok . . . now you can play with me again.  I'm serious.

Jonny has been giving every lessons in apology.  After he got in trouble at bedtime one night:

Jonny: Sorry needs sorry.  Say sorry.

Dave: I'm sorry.

Jonny (immediately):  It's okay.

Claire was watching the wind outside and a huge gust came by and she shrieked, "Mom! The world is spinning too fast!!" With genuine fear in her eyes!

Account sent to Dave via email:

The kids are playing wedding.  Audrey plays the piano (the wedding march, of course).  Jane is playing the preacher.  Jonny and Claire are getting married.  Darcy is the flower girl but she's in the kitchen playing in the cupboards.  So Jane is supposed to "say the gospel."  She says, "Now, I will say the gospel.  This is about love and friendship.  I am saying the loving gospel.  You are a man and his wife.  You may kiss the bride."  Claire bursts into fits of giggling and Jonny looks very serious through the whole thing.  And then everyone sees that he's pooped his pants and all the girls scream and run away.

I just checked... and he did NOT poop his pants, they just thought he did.  Now Audrey is re-assembling the wedding party.  Jane says, "Now you may exchange the things."  And they pass each other books.  Jonny sighs heavily and says, "ok, ok, you're married.  We're married."  Then Audrey strikes up the song again and Jane starts demanding her headband.

Jonny woke up one morning and sleepily asked, "Mom, did our chicken say cock-a-doodle-doo?"

Post-Christmas Fun Stuff

Dave finally got to do some skiing this winter.  After Christmas day, the Hunts came for a week of skiing!

For Christmas the girls got a new  room!  We went on a crazy Christmas-day cleaning spree (and thankfully, our awesome friends, the Olsons, invited us over for Christmas dinner, so we didn't have to do any cooking and could just focus on our big re-organizing project)!  There are four beds in what used to be the TV/playroom where Audrey, Jane, Claire, and Jonny now sleep.  When Darcy is done in the crib, her and Jonny will switch rooms so that all of the girls are in one room and Jonny will be the what is now the guest room/nursery.  The little room at the top of the stairs is the playroom and the girls old room is now the TV room.  We love it!  I'll have to remember to get some pictures.  As you noticed in the Christmas post, we shuffled things around in the living room, too, to accommodate the Christmas tree better.  We've decided to keep it that way for a while.

Darcy went out in the snow all by herself for the first time ever!  She loved it.  She kept stopping to brush snow off of her boots every few steps.

After she was done playing outside, she got silly with some of Audrey's Christmas stickers.  :)  Cutest little monster I've ever seen!

With so many quests in town, we decided to basically make Thanksgiving dinner.  I got a second batch of stock this year!!  With a smaller turkey, I had more room in the pot to make even more stock, so I got a double batch.  We're all set!

I didn't get pictures, but we spent New Year's Eve with the Olsons and the Johnsons.  We ate tons of pizza and treats and played games and watched movies and had a BLAST!  It was a huge success.

Christmas 2015

More December!

Jane's class did a play about Jonny Applessed.  The little kids and I went and watched the performance.  Here she is dressed in her pioneer costume.

I was on the committee for the Ward Christmas party this year.  Turns out, it's a lot of work to put on a Ward Christmas party!  One of the activities was an ugly sweater contest.  Audrey wanted to participate, and although we didn't have a Christmas sweater for her to wear, she came up with a cute sweater to wear instead.  Indeed!

I'm not entirely sure why these pictures were taken.  It's true; our house is sometimes messy.

I had a rough day once.  Hah!  I snapped this picture to prove to Dave how hard it was.  No big deal.

Our Christmas tree was particularly ugly this year.  Half the lights went out, and we just slapped some colored ones up to fill in the holes.  We referred to it as "the Charlie Brown tree."  Before Christmas, Mom came and helped me fix it up with ribbon and a little tweaking here and there.  I vowed to do better next year.

I found this note in my church bag from Hazel to Jane.  Those two are the cutest little best friends in the world.

Speaking of great friends:  Jonny's little friend down the street chose, of his own accord (according to him mom), to give this tub of Toy Story army guys to Jonny as a Christmas gift.  It was so sweet and thoughtful.

Again, speaking of amazing friends AND Christmas gifts: my BFF, Rachael (aforementioned yoga and running buddy), gave us the gift of family haircuts this year!!  Best present ever!  She also taught me how to cut Jonny and David's hair, which was huge.  Although every one of our haircuts was perfection, we both agreed that Darcy's was the cutest.  She got a sweet little bob.  She was super squirmy, though.  Hence this blurry picture.  Still . . . adorable, right?!

Displays!  They're back!  Jonny made this one out of blocks and was SO proud of it.  He's holding his hands out to show it off to me, but he was facing away from the blocks instead of toward them, which made it all that much more adorable.  I love this boy so darn much.

December!

Rachael and I signed up to do hot yoga as much as possible for the month of December (we had a Groupon worth unlimited classes for the month).  Our big plan was to wake up early--like, super early--at 5:00 am to get to the 5:30 class every weekday.  I took this picture of my hair all curled and ready to go by 7:00 that first morning.  Note how tired I look!  Turns out, waking up at 5:00 in the morning kind of sucks, even if it means a whole lot more time to get ready in the morning before the kids wake up.  We eventually switched to the evening class and things got a whole lot more fun.

So, about the class itself: The room is heated to 104 degrees and the humidity is pumped way up.  They don't call it HOT yoga for nothing.  The actual yoga was not that big of a deal, but I don't think I've ever sweat so much in my entire life.  Actually, now that it's over, I miss the sweat more than anything else.  By the end I could definitely tell that I'd gotten stronger, particularly in my arms.  Turns out, I can do hard (and scary) things!  Ever since then, I've deliberately looked for things that scare me a little bit, that sound hard, just to get the exhilaration of completing them.  Just this morning, in the freezing cold January weather (I guess temperature extremes scare me the most?), I went running with Rachael for a couple miles.  I don't run; and running in the cold of the early morning hours sounded  way hard.  I have to credit Rachael for pushing me.  Having a buddy to do these scary things with makes all the difference.  Turns out, running after never having run much, in the early morning, in the freezing cold, for a much farther distance than around the block, isn't as terrible as it sounds.  In fact, I loved it.

Darcy loves to just sit and look at books.  I only remember Audrey doing this as much as she does.  It so cute how patient and grown up she looks when she does it.

I got the kids a new little grocery store for Christmas, and I thought I'd get some shopping baskets to go with it . . . well, turns out these ones I bought off of Amazon aren't going to work.

My book club had a cookie exchange and a white elephant exchange (with books, naturally) for our December meeting.  I made some Graham Cracker Toffee for my "cookies."  Jonny helped.

Jonny and Dad taking a perfectly safe, and not at all irresponsible slide down the stairs on a mattress.  NBD!  Jonny does look a little concerned, though.  Not to worry.  It was as fun they [Dave] had hoped.

Some Stuff From November

Claire had a Thanksgiving feast with her kindergarten class this year.  David was able to come, and she was thrilled.

These are a few pictures from Dave and Darcy's date to get frozen yogurt.
