I finally got around to building my garden box.
Isn't it lovely?
It was a nice day.
David was my big helper.
You can't tell, but among these four huge tomato plants (which I planted a few months ago) have over 40 green tomatoes on them and a whole lot of little yellow flowers . . . I'm going to have TONS of tomatoes. Which was the plan. My friend and I are going to can them and make tomato sauce and salsa, etc. But I'm really just excited to have them for slicing for fresh tomato sandwiches with mayo and salt and pepper.

Now would be a good time to note that I am 23 weeks along!

I planted watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, strawberries, zucchini, bell pepper, jalapenos, basil, parsley, cilantro, and oregano. I tried to make sure everything had the proper spacing, and that I didn't plant things next to each other that weren't complimentary--but I have my doubts, so we'll see how it turns out. I'm also nervous about how well my climbing plants will do growing up that netting. I'm assured that even with the larger fruit like watermelon and cantaloupe, the vines will grow thick to accommodate the weight of the fruit and they'll do nicely growing vertically . . .
Give me a few months, and if the heat doesn't fry the whole thing, maybe it'll start looking more impressive. Next year I'll do another bed that is deeper and put in some onions, potatoes, carrots, and other things I've never grown.
