Bethany sent me this picture of their completed crest all framed and on the wall.
Our entire stake underwent some boundary changes. We lost about five or six families. We thought for sure we'd be split entirely, but there just isn't enough room here to put all of the wards we need to make. This is a picture of our current Relief Society presidency. They asked me to snap a picture because they were all matchy matchy. :)
Jonny has been taking life really hard since turning four. He is still sweet deep down, but he is really having a hard time. So am I. Heaven help us.
Darcy likes to help me fold laundry. I step away for a little while and come back to find rolls of things and I know Darcy has been hard at work.

His preschool also had a field trip to the Farmstead. They had animals, a pumpkin patch, a hay ride, a corn maze; all the obligatory October fun stuff. But this day was just for preschool groups, so it was extra special.
It was actually really fun that Darcy got to tag along. She had such a blast.
Apparently the Farmstead has a thing for Jimmy Fallon.

Besides Halloween (which I'll get to), here are the other things that happened in October:
Darcy went pee on the potty once! We were just trying it out. I think she'll be like Claire and basically potty train herself next year, so I'm in no rush.
We didn't get any pictures (just a video), but we took the kids to a pumpkin patch with Chris and Bethany on weekend. We brought home some pretty bumpy pumpkins that look so great all piled on our front porch (even still), and the kids had a really fun time on the hayride. We sang Old McDonald Had a Farm, but instead of animals, we used the kids names and their sounds were what they say all the time, Like for Jane it was, "Great!" :) Afterward we went to Taco Bell.
All the choirs have started in on Christmas music and it is really fun. The big two girls and I are doing stake choir practice, too, for the Nativity Festival our stake does every year. It's a lot of work, but I think it'll be really fun. Our own Ward choir is doing a lot of christmas music since Christmas is on Sunday this year, and Marla wanted to really go heavy on the music. I think it'll be so lovely.
We thought about getting new carpet and had the people come and measure for it. Turns out, even heavily discounted, our house has a lot of carpet and it would cost us a small fortune. We bought a steam cleaner instead.
Dave and I went (with all kids!) to the close-out sale of the last Hastings bookstore in Idaho (Nampa) on the last day. It was insane. Also, I bought a LOT of books.
The kids all had Parent Teacher Conferences. Dave was late coming home so I could be on time, so I had to just leave Claire and Jane with the little two in the playroom while I left with Audrey. Dave got home five minutes later, but he didn't look hard enough for them and came to the school thinking I'd taken them with me. I about had a heart attack and I was so embarrassed. He went home and found them and all was fine, but boy was I stressed that night. Jane was having a little trouble completing and turning in assignments, but she's an angel, as we know. And her reading scores are improving dramatically. Audrey is failing all of her tests, but when we go over them at home, she gets 100% most of the time, and does great on the retakes her teacher allows . . . we didn't really address that much, but at least she knows the material?? Still a little stumped on that one, but otherwise she does well in school. She's reading so much more because of the 40-book challenge the 5th graders are doing. She's a huge fan of audiobooks (when we let her listen along). Claire is excelling and her teacher had no complaints. That was a nice relief at the end of the hectic night.
One day at the table during lunch, Jonny randomly said, "Mom, it sure is hot in the desert." :)
Darcy is always changing her mind. I'll ask her if she wants something, and she answers right away, but then she usually stops me and says, "Actually . . . .yeah." It's so cute how she says it. :)
We got "Boo'ed" by some friends. They left candy at our door. Then it was our turn to boo other people. The kids had never had so much fun as sneaking around booing people! I think we will do something like it for Christmas. I loved seeing them get so excited to do something nice, and without recognition, for other people.
There has been a LOT of construction around our town--widening streets, new subdivisions going in--and we had a scheduled power outage one day while they worked on things. It was supposed to be from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, but they kept pushing it back and back and back until it finally came on at 6:00 PM. Grrr.
